#13 The Great Wall

Travel

I spent my summer traveling as much as I could…or at least as much as my parents would let me. My first trip of the summer was a memorable one: I traveled around China for 2 and 1/2 weeks: Beijing, Xi’an, Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hubei, The Huangpu River (river boat cruise,) Sanxia, Guangxi, Hong Kong, and many other cities/states. The biggest bucket list item I was able to check off was walking on The Great Wall of China. It was amazing. The wind was so strong when we got to the higher points that we had to hold on to the guard rails because there was a serious fear of falling. Learning about the history of the wall and seeing people from all different walks of life basking in its glory was unforgettable. The best part was that I was more of a tourist attraction than the wall was. My friend and I are both blonde, and the people there LOVE blondes. I had more pictures taken of me/with me than I took of the wall. People would literally hand us there children and takes photos for as long as possible. The different culture there was crazy and such an unforgettable experience.
