Hour 1:
ACTIVITIES:
Studied Statistics in the library for 1.5 hours.
EMOTIONS:
I was distracted by my book, so overall the first hour and a half wasn’t horrible. However, when I got bored it took everything in me not to grab my phone and answer my snapchats/scroll through Instagram quickly.
Hour 2:
ACTIVITIES:
I ate food at Umph
EMOTIONS:
I think I ate slower than I ever had before because I was trying to keep myself occupied. Luckily, a few of my friends were there with me, and talking to them made me forget about my phone.
Hour 3:
ACTIVITIES:
Hung out in a friends room.
EMOTIONS:
This part was a little awkward. When I got in my friends room he had Netflix on, so I asked him to turn it off, and after explaining why I think he thought I was a little crazy. I hung out with him and his friends and just messed around for a few hours. Being around people was helping me keep my mind off of the thousands of things I knew I was missing online.
Hour 4:
ACTIVITIES:
Worked Out
EMOTIONS:
I went to a cycling class called Zynn22 and worked out. This was the easiest part of the 6 hours because I never want my phone near me during a workout. I was in the zone and didn’t think about my phone at all.
Hour 5:
ACTIVITIES:
Showered/Cleaned My Room
EMOTIONS:
Not listening to music while I showered made me want to die, but I persevered. Usually, when I get out of the shower I check my social media and lay in my bed for a little bit, but I couldn’t do that so I resorted to doing all of my laundry and cleaning my room. Time has never gone so slowly.
Hour 6:
ACTIVITIES:
Read
EMOTIONS:
At this point, I was out of ideas to keep my mind off my phone, so I resorted to catching up on some reading for a few of my classes. This passed the time a lot better than I originally expected, but I still found myself thinking about my phone every 5 minutes or so. The last two hours were THE WORST. I am not sure how people ever lived without mobile phones, but I don’t think I could do it.
